Procedures
In order for a classroom to be a safe, happy, positive place for learning, a management system is necessary. In my classroom, there are routines and procedures in place to maximize time on task and prevent opportunities for misbehavior. I encourage students to make good choices and praise them often for doing so. There are many procedures in place to help us effectively manage our time as well as make the day run smoothly. These procedures are practiced repeatedly at the beginning of the year so all students are aware of how we do things and it becomes a habit.
Important Things You Need to Know
H.W. will be given on a DAILY basis M-R.
Daily Expectation logs will be sent home and expected to be signed by parents and returned on a DAILY basis.
30 minutes of reading is required outside of school DAILY! Even on weekends. (Parents are encouraged to read to your scholar @ least 15 minutes/night)
Bullying will NOT be tolerated.
We Learn AND have fun!
Whole Class Management
I reinforce positive behavior during whole class activities and instruction with "Leadership Stars". When the class makes good choices as a group I add a star to the wall. We earn links for things like staying on task, lining up quietly in the room, walking nicely in the hall, and receiving a compliment from another teacher. Sometimes I add a star to the chain just because I think the class made a good choice. When we have reached our quarterly Leadership Goal (about 50 Stars) Ms. Staten buys pizza or some other yummy treat for the class to enjoy.
